Titanic Reliquary, and other Cast Mycelium Artworks
All of the objects in this gallery were created using mycelium, the root system of mushrooms.
The title of the Titanic Reliquary series alludes to what’s in store for humans as a species if we continue on our current trajectory towards deforestation, as well as the appearance of the objects themselves, which can be anything from a velvety smooth, detailed surface, to something resembling artifacts from a sunken ship.
The artworks in this series are made from Cast Mycelium and Hemp Straw. Some are finished with Beeswax, and Gold Leaf.
Cast mycelium is the world's most sustainable material, and is an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional materials in fine art, architecture, furniture design, and textiles.
The artworks in this series scale from 5x3.25 inches, to 27x17 inches.
